Hi friends,

My name is Andy and am pleased to welcome you to PlantBased Lifestyle, a place to share healthy recipes along with tidbits of interesting facts about eating plants for increased energy, health, and longevity.

I have worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) for over 20 years so have always been interested in nutrition and healthy lifestyle

My plant-based journey started in 2010 when my son decided to become a vegetarian, then soon after turned vegan. This prompted me to begin digging deeper into different diets, some of which were entirely based on plants.

My cholesterol at that time was 260 (less than 200 is desirable) in spite of my so-called healthy diet.  Being an RN and seeing all the negative side effects of pharmaceuticals, medication was never an option for me. So I was curious to learn about how ditching meat, eggs, and dairy could potentially help me lower cholesteral, which is something I had been struggling with and concerned about for years.

Documentaries like, Cowspiracy, Forks Over Knives, and Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead were real eye openers which inspired me to not  only bring my cholesterol down, but to also stop financing the needless suffering of innocent animals. I eliminated all animal products along with my two sons and I got very creative in the kitchen.

So here I am, creating my first website to help anyone I can make that change to a clean, oil free, organic (whenever possible) plantbasedlifestyle. I believe that, like me, making the switch will help you feel and see the same difference that I did.
